As a Border Collie, Nancy is
quite calm, but very enthusiastic when needed, especially in agility,
obedience and tracking. Nancy loves playing with a ball or stick. She
has a funny way of catching drops of water and snowflakes in mid-air.
Even though she loves running after moving objects, she has never
fancied chasing bicyclists or roller-skaters. When she was younger (at
the age of 8-9 months), she went through a phase when she wanted to
catch cars, but (fortunately) it soon passed. Although she enjoys
“herding” our cats, she was not very fond of sheep when we
tried herding. The only thing she was willing to do with me in the
pasture was to run after sticks!
Nancy is also a very playful girl. She quite enjoys playing with her
dog friends. Although she sometimes likes to play the role of "police
officer", she generally gets on well with other dogs. In new places,
such as the Helsinki airport, post offices, banks and even libraries,
she behaves tranquilly and doesn't panic at all. When she was younger,
howoever, she needed a little of my support before taking a closer look
at an unusual object. With strangers, and especially with children, she
can be a bit shy, but with experience and age, this trait has largely
vanished. Because of her softness, she is very, VERY obedient. I have
never had any problems with her; she provides perfect company. She is
kind, soft, sensitive, active when needed and so pretty! A true lady!
